Where You Read

This week is the anniversary of the blog. Eight years. It hardly seems possible. But through that time, I've met so many wonderful people who share my love of reading. We've met at conferences, through emails and social media and even in personal visits. It continues to be the highlight of blogging for me. So this year, I'd like to celebrate people who read the blog. And to do so, I'd like to feature YOU, reading where you live. I hope you'll participate!

What's involved, you ask? Very little. This is what I'd like you to do. Take a picture of yourself reading near something that symbolizes where you live. It can be a landmark, a business, something in nature...just some indicator of your geographic location. As an example: I live in NE Ohio, so I'm near Lake Erie, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the big Easter basket. As silly as that sounds, anyone who ever says they've been to Lorain knows about the Easter basket. So I could take my picture reading near any of those places.

Then add a quick few sentences about who you are, what book you're reading and your location choice. It doesn't need to be elaborate, I don't want this to feel like a school writing assignment or anything. The book you choose can be a favorite, what you're reading right now, something you want to read soon...completely up to you.

Last, email it to me at Please put "Where You Read" in the subject line so I know right away that's what the email pertains to.

If you would like to participate more than once because you're going on a cool trip and you want to send a picture of yourself reading on the beach in Jamaica or in a gondola in Italy or something, that's absolutely acceptable as long as you send the picture of you reading where you live first. If we get enough pictures to run this fun feature for years, I'll do it! I want to celebrate both reading and YOU!

I'm going to kick this off at the beginning of February, so if you can send your pictures by the end of January, that would be fantastic. If you need a little longer to take the pictures or you want to do additional ones later, just let me know so I can plan accordingly. If you have any questions, drop me a line.
