Welcome to Theme Week 2011: Moonlighting for Murder

About this time last year, a slew of bloggers joined me to celebrate the detectives of crime fiction. We had so much fun we decided to do it again. This year we're recognizing all the amateur sleuths out in the crime-fighting world. Those sleuths who don't hold a badge or a license, they solve the crime through their interactions in their jobs or hobbies.

Amateur sleuths run the gamut of the crime fiction continuum. Some are the coziest of the cozy novels and others are the hardest of the hardboiled. The common thread is their crime fighting that happens rather by happenstance than it being a part of their expected routine.

So this week we'll be looking at everything from cake decorators to photographers to investigative journalists. I hope you will join us in the reviews, the fun job-related posts, the guest posts and the slew of contests.

I would like to start by recognize all the bloggers participating. They have made incredible and creative efforts for the theme week and I hope you'll check out their contributions. They include:

Each morning I will have a post that will tell you what is happening where on the blogs, so you can check here for that or check the individual blog themselves. The first contest you should know about is the comment contest. Each comment left at any of the theme week posts by Friday at midnight (Eastern) enters you into a drawing for a book prize pack. The book prize packs you can win this week will include at least a bag, two books, a small notebook and a bookmark. Other various goodies may also be included as surprise items.

As always, thanks for visiting the blog, and I hope you will enjoy celebrating the amateur sleuths with us this week!

How fun this is! I'm reading a Fresh-Baked Mystery myself and am looking forward to checking out the week's posts.

Do you do this every April? Other themes? My favorites are the cozies.

So, Jen. I'm waiting to find out how my favorite journalist, Carter Ross, made it in this week's competition. My mother even visited your blog earlier this week to vote for Carter. (She said it was her first time on your blog and she really liked it.)

And, looking forward to the guest blogs this week.

I'm really looking forward to it! Hope it's a great week.

Hi Book Dragon. This is the second year we're having a theme week. Each year is different. Last year we highlighted detectives and this year amateur sleuths. We'll see how this year goes off and there may be a third!

O.k. Lesa, Carter made the final round. Jane Marple is going to be a tough competitor. Let's see what happens!

And yeah for Word Lily! She's one of the wonderful bloggers who make the theme week possible!! :-)

I'm looking forward to all the good stuff this week, Jen. Still sad that I had to bow out, but maybe next year.

And, I'm trying to decide if I can possibly vote against Jane Marple, my very, very favorite amateur sleuth...hmmm.
