The 2011 World's Favorite Amateur Sleuth

I know after all the drama yesterday that people are waiting on pins and needles to hear the winner declared today. So without further ado, chosen by the people, the 2011 World's Favorite Amateur Sleuth title goes to:

Carter Ross

The final round included 428 votes and here was the distribution:

Thanks to everyone who voted and all those who had fun with this contest this year. One of the things I heard most often was "I haven't heard of a lot of these sleuths." I, too, was saying that same thing, but that's one of the biggest motivators for me on fun events like this, make people more aware of who is out there. I hope you had fun. I know I did. Now let me go start plotting....I mean planning for what fun we'll have next year! Happy Reading!

It sounds like I need to try a Carter Ross book. Are they written by Brad Parks?

Fabulous. I think that Jane would cheer Carter on! LOL

Thanks for all your hard work doing the tournament and MfM, Jen. Can't wait to hear what you cook up for next year!

BOGUS!!! Carter Ross is NOT an amateur sleuth. He's a professional whose job it is to investigate. He's closer to a private eye than an "amateur sleuth."

This is like opening up the Olympics to professional athletes.

I'm not even a Marple fan, and I feel she was robbed.

What a crock. Color me disappointed.

I agree with Kevin. Phoney results that absolutely do not reflect a mass readership.

An author who has only two books under his belt wins out of ALL the possible choices? Bogus to the millionth power and extremely suspect for vote manipulation. I smell a rat. Bigger than the Giant Rat of Sumatra.

While I wouldn't personally give the crown to Carter Ross this early in his career, I'm cheering that somebody beat out that old bat, Marple!

Grump. Whippersnapper indeed. But that's what makes contests like this both interesting and fun. Even if my own preference didn't win.

Now, now, now....anyone with access to a computer had the opportunity to vote. We can only count those who made the effort to do so.

And we must also remember it's all just in fun. That's what reading should be...FUN!

Thanks everyone :-)

I guess this just shows that readers will go to life or death battles for their favorite characters.

It just shows how much reading -- especially the characters -- means to us.

As for me, my leading contenders lost a long time ago, not having read any of Parks' books and not being a fan of Miss Marples.
