The Cute Guys Panel

The final panel I attended at Love is Murder was called "The Cute Guys" panel. The panel consisted of 11 men, moderated by Barb D'Amato. It was a cute panel and everyone had a wonderful sense of humor about the panel.

The two hot topics during this panel were Marcus Sakey's hair (poor Marcus) and Keir Graff's earthworms. Joe Finder related his daughter's reaction when she learned he was on the "Cute Guys" panel. She asked if the qualifications included "throwing out your AARP card in self-denial."

I grabbed a small video during this panel, so you can get an idea of the players in this game and hear a little from some of them. The really risque questions that came from the audience plants are not, however, included in this snippet. Hope you enjoy. Have a super weekend!

This is slightly off-topic, but can you tell me how I can find your best books of 2010 list? And also, your reading list for last year?

I'm now seriously addicted to Gregg Hurwitz's books, having just read "They're Watching," after "The Crime Writer." And also have pulled in another friend who has just read the same books and book a bunch more out of the library of his.

We were discussing his writing last night, how smart he is, his good writing but also his empathy.
(The only problem is staying up all night, as his books are unputdownable. My friend also did this--on work nights!)

So I thought I'd look over your top reads of 2010, and your reading list to get other ideas.

Thanks a lot for this blog.

Hi Kathy!

I don't have a specific way to go directly to my favorites posts, but if you go to the Archive drop down over in the side column there and choose December, you can get to my favorites post that way.

Here's the exact link:

Favorites Post

I need to go back and add a year label to the reviews I did in 2010, then you'll be able to easily access all those, but for now if you go to the bottom of the blog and click the "Review" link, that'll give you ALL my reviews with the most recent on top. Here's a direct link for that:

All Reviews

Let me know if those don't work for you.

And btw, your slightly off-topic comment totally made my weekend. Thank you!!

I easily found the top 2010 book list, and just bookmarked it. I see some I must read already.

There are also lots of good books on the Edgar and Barry nominees' list.

I am so trying to read global crime fiction, but find myself pulled back into the orbit of home-grown writers. I must find a way to balance this! Too much to read, too little time, unless we cancel sleep, bill paying, errands, working, etc.

I shocked my friend by saying that Hurwitz is a better writer than many popular "thriller" writers. The guy has quite a mind, and human sympathy, too.

Jen, or secret Santa as I know you better, you are tagged for a meme. Please ignore if you'd rather. And thanks again for the great stash of books!

Oh, how funny!!! Thanks for the video...and, um, where do I find the snippets WITH the risque bits? ;-p

Of course, the challenge with taking stills or video where the panelists are so entertaining is to keep the camera still while laughing. Good job!
