What is a Thriller?

In honor of Jenn's Bookshelves' Fright Fest, I put together a video on "What is a Thriller?" During Bouchercon, I asked a handful of folks from the crime fiction community to share their definitions with me. Here is the result. I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to leave your own definitions in the comments!

I enjoyed this Jen. The link made a nice inclusion to my monthly reminder for my mystery book group. So, I'm drumming up business for you and for the authors! LOL

Love the video, Jen! i enjoyed hearing everyone's take on what a thriller means. I think thrillers are fast-paced yet suspenseful.
What a great idea to make a video when there are so many talented folks gathered under one roof. Nicely done!

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone. It was fun putting the video together. I think I was having a little more fun that I should have actually been allowed to have!

Alafair, thank YOU! You're always so agreeable to my hair-brained schemes.

Kay, you are the best! I'm always so tickled when you stop by.

what a great idea for a video. the start of a series?

'grabs you from the first page and never lets go' worked for me,

though Mr Coleman nailed it, kind of.

will come back to this when i need to focus

What a fun idea! Though I've never been fired, I have had to drag my butt into work on occasion after staying up too late reading "just one more chapter". ;-)

And what Alafair said? I've gone back to reread a book because I wasn't able keep myself from just devouring it the first time.

This was neat! I think Reed's definition hits the nail on the head for me. Although, I didn't know it until I heard it. :)

When I was in high school, I was always late because I could never put down a mystery--ever. Detention was worth it.

And, now I do stay up all night when I can't stop turning pages. The exhaustion the next day is worth it.

It's when life interferes with the reading that is a problem.
